Our History

The Berg Show’s origins go back in the 1970’s when an Agricultural Show has held annually at the Bergville Polo Grounds with evening entertainment taking place in the Old Bergville Farmers’ Hall. The Old Bergville Show featured mainly livestock and agricultural products and remained an annual fixture for many years before losing momentum. The Winterton area also had a show with the last show being held in the 1990’s. In 2011, a group of young farmer’s and businessmen from the Bergville and Winterton area decided to revive the idea of an agricultural show in the area and incorporate the entire ‘Berg’ farming and business community in one show.  The 2011 Berg Show was an outstanding success, attracting people from Ladysmith, Estcourt and as far afield as Newcastle and the Midlands. Over 2000 people visited the showgrounds on the Saturday.  This year will be our 10th show, and it is still going strong.
